Protocolzone Protocolzone

For brokers, wealth platforms and trading firms · Australia and New Zealand

Trading software that behaves on the worst day.
Built and run by a team that runs its own.

Protocolzone builds options, derivatives and wealth platforms for firms, and runs them with a 24x7 operations desk. We also build and operate our own options trading product, AnkEDGE, so the problems on this page are ones we deal with ourselves.

We build software for firms. We do not give financial advice, hold client money or trade on anyone's behalf.

The problems we work on.

Every new strategy waits on an engineering ticket

Quants should be able to express a strategy without a release. We build a strategy authoring layer with guardrails: versioned models, recorded human overrides and clear hand offs between model and trader.

Strategy development with guardrails

It backtested well and lost money live

Usually the backtest saw something the live system never could. Factor generation that structurally excludes future values, walk forward replay and a simulation stage before capital is at risk close that gap.

Backtesting that matches production

Market data that disagrees with itself

Vendors differ on identifiers, clocks and corrections. One canonical model, versioned identifier mappings and corrections stored as new events mean every desk tool answers "what did we know then" the same way.

Market data pipelines

Exposure you can only see at T+1

One live view of position and exposure across every book and entity, instead of an overnight reconciliation that arrives after the moment to act has passed.

Live exposure and position views

Some of these methods were proven in our probability modelling and betting platform work and are applied here to financial trading. Each linked page says which parts are delivered and which are reasoned.

What we build for firms.

These are the platforms we take on. AnkEDGE and the pages linked above are our delivered references; in a first call we will tell you plainly which parts of your platform we have built before and which would be new.

Options and multi leg strategies

Option chains normalised by underlying, expiry and strike, so strategies across several legs can be defined, tested and monitored.

Derivatives and wealth platforms

Client and adviser platforms, model portfolios and reporting, with audit trails your compliance team can read.

Broker and data integrations

Order routing, execution reports and market data connections, designed for timeouts, partial fills and replays.

24x7 operation

The engineers who build the platform run it, with monitoring, incident response and release support around market hours.

AnkEDGE, our own options product.

AnkEDGE is the options trading platform Protocolzone builds, operates and supports. Its implementation includes strategy definitions, a decision engine and a historical backtesting service, so strategy logic is evaluated through a repeatable workflow rather than a separate spreadsheet.

If it is close to what your firm needs, a walkthrough shows the features, broker connections and controls in the current release, and where integration or further development would be needed.

Read about AnkEDGE

Compliance stays with you, the evidence is built in.

We engineer the records a review needs: which model version made a recommendation, who overrode it and why, and what data it saw at the time. Regulatory sign off stays with your firm and its advisers.

Typical stack: Core Java and Spring Boot, Python, Kafka, Cassandra and ScyllaDB, Apache Pinot for live analytics, on Kubernetes.

Tell us about the platform.

The instruments and strategies you support, the brokers and data vendors involved, and where today's system lets you down. A specification is optional.
